Dr Nupur Kataria is our head periodontist at Melbourne Periocare. Dr. Kataria is a dedicated and respected member of the dental profession. She has worked as a specialist periodontist in private practices across Melbourne and Adelaide, a senior lecturer in University of Adelaide and a clinical tutor at the Universities of Adelaide and Melbourne.
Essentially, a periodontist is a more highly qualified dentist who has achieved extensive postgraduate training. They are qualified to provide a more complex level of services and care to patients with gum disease. Services can include surgical procedures and dental implant placement.
Dr. Kataria studied Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide and is recognized by the Dental Board of South Australia prize for achieving the highest standards in her annual BDS examination. Similarly, Dr Kataria is recognized by the Australian Society of Periodontology in recognition of having achieved the highest standards in Periodontology in her final annual BDS examination. She is also a recipient of Membership to Golden Key International Honour Society, awarded to the top 15% of university students.
In 2005 Dr. Kataria devoted her time at the University of Adelaide as a senior lecturer and undergraduate stream coordinator for Periodontics within the Dental School. She completed a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) from the University of Adelaide in 2009 and is a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (Periodontics).
In recognition for excellence in clinical research, Dr. Kataria was awarded the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP) Medallion prize.
